Today's Holmen Area Rotary Club meeting featured David Inmam from Water Mission. South Carolina based Water Mission is a non-profit organization that facilitates the production of clean water in 3rd world countries. Their activities include assessment, planning and construction of new water systems but also supplying clean water and their services as emergency response during natural disasters. The organization strives to create sustainable projects by assessing the community and their needs, establishing and training key community leaders and monitoring and following up after the installation. A major initiative is to also train the community in WASH (Water and Sanitation and Hygiene) methods to promote safe hygiene behavior. Water Mission projects have effected the lives of over 7 million people. To carry out their work they employ 350 staff members throughout the world. Water Mission has been given 4 out of 4 stars for the past 13 years from Charity Navigator. Water Mission works with many charitable organizations to help fund water projects. The Holmen Area Rotary Club has made a difference by helping fund 5 of their Peru projects in the past 13 years.
