The Holmen Area Rotary Club was successful with their inaugural Battle of the Beards fundraiser Saturday night November 30th. A great crowd came out to the Pearl Street Brewery despite the weather and enthusiastically cheered on the contestants as they put their best face forward. There were some fantastic beards competing and the judges had a tough time distilling the groups to just the top three in each category. Here are the winners, first, second and third:
Full Long Beard: Shaun Hanson, Dan Callahan, Duncan Beard
Partial Beard: Andrew Mattson, Cliff Hendrick, Jim Spencer
Full Short Beard: Randy Dewhirst, Patrick Mc Hue, Ben Nugent
Fake Beard: Jenn Luedke, Terrel Schaefer, Kathy Weitekamp
No Shave November Beard: Jon Mc Kenzie, Matt Boshcka, Steve O'Malley
Styled Beard: Joe Weitekamp
Peoples Choice: Randy Dewhirst, Joe Heimann, Duncan Beard
The Rotarian No Shave November Award was taken away by Jon McKenzie. This traveling trophy is for the best No Shave November sported by a Rotarian. The challenge is on- Jon will have to bring the trophy back and defend his title next year. I'll be eating fertilizer for a year so I can take it away from him next November.

There was plenty of activity with the contest going on, 50/50 raffles, bucket raffles, peoples choice voting and beard tips from two National and World beard champions.
